Valley of the Queens
The Valley of the Queens is where wives of Pharoahs were buried. It was known as Ta-Set-Neferu,the place of the Children of the Pharaoh, many princes and princesses along with the Queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties were also buried here.
Located close to the Valley of the Kings, The purpose of the valley, like the Valley of the Kings, was that its location would be secret, preventing grave robbers from looting the tombs for buried treasures.
There are between 75 and 80 tombs in the Valley of the Queens, or Biban al-Harim. These belong to Queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th Dynasties.
The tombs usually consisting of an entrance passage, a few short halls, and a sarcophagus chamber. The earliest may be that of Sitre, wife of Ramses I. The most notable are those of Nefertari, the favourite queen of Ramses II; of Princes Khaemwese and Amonhirkhopsef; and of a Ramesside queen called Titi.
